Characteristics of Highly Successful Female Leaders

Despite all of the progress that has been made, the glass ceiling is still a fact. In a study based on 360 degree feedback of over 7000 leaders, Zenger/Folkman discovered that 64% of leaders in the organizations they studied are men, and the percentage increases significantly as the level of leadership increases with 78% of top leaders being men. Despite this disparity, they discovered that women were rated higher than men on twelve of the sixteen leadership capacities measured (both those typically considered to be “nurturing” and those that are more “strategic”). So, what differentiates women who are able to break through the glass ceiling from those who are highly capable but unable to crack the code? Watch this 8-minute vlog to discover how women who make it to the top think differently about their jobs, about networking, and about themselves.
